NEOLİBERALISM, IDENTITY POLITICS AND POLITICAL PARTIES

Abstract

In this article it was tried to set forth of the reasons of transformation occurred today by basing on the presumption of identity-based transformation occurred in political parties. For this purpose, the currently experienced transformations in the political parties is discussed here in with regard to transformation of political arena by the neoliberalism and with regard to policies gaining much more acknowledgement that are rising on identities and differences due to dominant effects of postmodern rhetoric along with gradual power loss of class-based politics. As a matter of fact, neoliberalism deepens the distinction between the economy and politics and as a result the citizenship understanding including both the economic and social rights is alienated. Therefore, a citizenship understanding in which the emphasis on personal and cultural rights is more dominant and this leads the dominance of a democracy understanding while enhancing the importance of identity-based politics. On the other hand, by virtue of diminishing importance of class-based identity and with the effects of anti-essentialist approach born from postmodernism; this results in for the political parties to make a new style of politics in which the politics on the identities and differences are dominant

NEOLİBERALİZM, KİMLİK SİYASETİ VE SİYASİ PARTİLER

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, siyasi partilerin kimlik temelli bir dönüşüm yaşadığı varsayımından hareket ederek yaşanan dönüşümün nedenleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla neoliberalizmin siyaset alanını dönüştürmesi ve postmodern söylemin egemenliği ile birlikte sınıf politikalarının etkisini yitirerek, kimlik ve farklılık üzerine yükselen politikaların geçerlilik kazandığı görüşleri bağlamında siyasi partilerde yaşanan dönüşüm ele alınmıştır. Neoliberalizmin, ekonomi-siyaset ayrımını derinleştirmesi ve ekonomik ve sosyal hakları da içeren vatandaşlık anlayışından uzaklaşılarak bireysel ve kültürel haklara yapılan vurgunun baskın olduğu vatandaşlık ve demokrasi anlayışını egemen kılması kimlik politikalarının önemini arttırmaktadır. Diğer yandan sınıfsal kimliğinin öneminin azalması ve postmodernizmin anti-özcü yaklaşımının etkisiyle kimlik ve farklılık politikalarının başat olduğu yeni siyaset tarzı, siyasi partileri kimlik politikaları konularında siyaset yapmaları sonucunu doğurmaktadır
