Abstract
Rosanvallon’un 2020’de “Le Siècle du populisme- Histoire, thèorie, critique” özgün adıyla “Éditions du Seuil” tarafından yayınlanan kitabı 2023’te “Kırmızı Kedi Yayınevi” tarafından Türkçe literatüre kazandırılmıştır. Altı bölüm ve yetmiş sekiz alt başlıktan oluşan çalışma, “Giriş”, “Popülizmin Anatomisi”, “Popülizmin Tarihi”, “Popülizmin Eleştirisi”, “Sonuç: Bir Alternatif Ruhu” ve “Ek: Popülizm Sözlüğünün Tarihi” başlıklı bölümlerden oluşmaktadır. Popülizmi; tarihsel, teorik ve eleştirel yönleriyle ele alan kitap disiplinlerarası niteliğiyle dikkat çekmektedir. Rosanvallon, literatürdeki metodolojik ve kavramsal çalışmaların popülizmin doğasını anlamada sınırlı kaldığı kanısındadır. Ona göre popülizm-demokrasi ilişkisi demokrasinin içsel sorunları dışlanmadan değerlendirilmelidir. Zira demokrasinin mevcut durumunu basitleştiren ve kutuplaştıran bir anlatı popülizmin anlaşılmasını zorlaştırmaktadır.

Abstract
Pierre Rosanvallon’s book, originally published in 2020 as Le Siècle du populisme - Histoire, théorie, critique by Éditions du Seuil, was introduced to Turkish literature in 2023 by Kırmızı Kedi Yayınevi. The work, structured into six chapters and seventy-eight subheadings, consists of the following sections: “Introduction,” “The Anatomy of Populism,” “The History of Populism,” “The Critique of Populism,” “Conclusion: A Spirit of Alternative,” and “Appendix: The History of the Populism Lexicon.” The book, which examines populism through historical, theoretical, and critical perspectives, stands out for its interdisciplinary nature. Rosanvallon argues that methodological and conceptual studies in the literature have been limited in understanding the nature of populism. According to him, the relationship between populism and democracy should be evaluated without overlooking the internal problems of democracy. This is because a narrative that simplifies and polarizes the current state of democracy complicates the understanding of populism.
