Türkiye’de Enflasyon Şoklarının Reel Ücretler Üzerindeki Etkisi: Yağlama Etkisi ve Roket-Tüy Asimetrisi Çerçevesinde Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Bu çalışma, 2000Q1–2025Q3 döneminde Türkiye’de enflasyon şoklarının istihdam başına reel emek ödemeleri üzerindeki etkilerini “yağlama etkisi” çerçevesinde analiz etmekte ve roket-tüy analojisinin ima ettiği olası asimetrik uyarlama örüntülerini NARDL yaklaşımıyla sınamaktadır. Bu amaçla enflasyon serisi pozitif ve negatif bileşenlerine ayrıştırılmıştır. Bulgular, değişkenler arasında uzun dönemli bir ilişki bulunduğunu ve enflasyon şoklarının reel ücret uyarlamasında kalıcı etkiler yarattığını göstermektedir. Wald testi, pozitif ve negatif şokların uzun dönem etki büyüklükleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılaşma olmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Buna karşın, her iki bileşene ait uzun dönem katsayıların anlamlılığı, nominal katılıklar altında enflasyon dinamiklerinin reel ücret uyarlamasında yağlama etkisiyle uyumlu bir kanal üzerinden işlediğini düşündürmektedir. Dinamik çarpanlara göre uyarlama ilk birkaç dönemde hızla belirginleşmekte, sonraki dönemlerde ise plato değerine yakınsamaktadır. Asimetri patikasının sınırlı kalması, roket-tüy benzeri güçlü bir büyüklük asimetrisinin desteklenmediğini; buna rağmen uyarlamanın zaman profili bakımından sınırlı farklılaşmaların tartışılabileceğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca 2022Q2 sonrası kurumsal rejim değişikliğini temsil eden kukla değişkenin ücret seviyesini yukarı taşıdığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar, satın alma gücünün kalıcı biçimde korunmasında fiyat istikrarının belirleyici önemine işaret etmektedir.

The Effects of Inflation Shocks on Real Wages in Türkiye: An Examination within the Framework of the Grease Effect and Rocket-Feather Asymmetry

Abstract

This study analyzes the effects of inflation shocks on real labor compensation per employed person in Türkiye in 2000Q1–2025Q3 within the grease effect framework and tests asymmetric adjustment patterns implied by the rocket–feather analogy using NARDL. Inflation is decomposed into positive and negative components. Findings reveal a long-run relationship among variables and persistent effects of inflation shocks on real wage adjustment. The Wald test shows no statistically significant difference between the long-run magnitudes of positive and negative shocks. However, significant long-run coefficients for both components suggest that, under nominal rigidities, inflation dynamics operate through a grease-effect-consistent channel in real wage adjustment. Dynamic multipliers indicate that adjustment emerges rapidly in the first periods and then converges to a plateau. The limited asymmetry path does not support a strong rocket-feather-type magnitude asymmetry, although limited differences in the adjustment time profile remain discussable. The post-2022Q2 institutional-regime dummy is also found to raise the wage level. Results highlight price stability’s decisive role in sustainably protecting purchasing power.
