Abstract

HSP70’in testisler üzerinde önemli rol oynadığı bilinmekte ve özellikle yaşlanmayla birlikte etkisi artmaktadır. Yaşlanmayla spermatogenez ve steroidogenez büyük ölçüde azalmaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra yüksek sıcaklık, toksik kimyasallara ve patojenlere maruz kalma ya da çeşitli çevresel faktörler erkek üreme sistemi üzerinde olumsuz etkiler meydana getirmektedir. Özellikle oksidatif stres, erkek infertilitesiyle ilişkili ana konulardan biridir. Çeşitli çalışmalar, reaktif oksijen türlerinin (ROS) sperm hareketliliğini azaltarak ve sperm deoksiribo nükleik asit yapısına (DNA), doğrudan zarar vererek infertiliteye neden olduğunu göstermiştir; fakat etiyolojisi ve patogenezi henüz tam olarak anlaşılamamıştır. Bu derlemede, HSP70’in etki mekanizması, oksidatif stresin erkek infertilitesindeki rolü üzerine yapılan çalışmalar özetlenmeye çalışılmıştır.

Abstract

Organisms and cells are constantly exposed to various stress factors that need to adapt. Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs), originally defined as stress-sensitive proteins, are involved in many cellular functions, such as protein folding, transport, maturation, and degradation. HSP70 is known to play an important role in the testes and its effect is increasing especially with aging. Spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis are greatly reduced with aging. Also, high temperatures, exposure to toxic chemicals and pathogens, or various environmental factors have adverse effects on the male reproductive system. Oxidative stress, in particular, is one of the main issues associated with male infertility. Several studies have shown that reactive oxygen species (ROS) cause infertility by reducing sperm motility and directly damaging sperm deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), but the etiology and pathogenesis have not yet been fully understood. this review summarizes the studies on the mechanism of action of HSP70 and the role of oxidative stress in male infertility.
