Evaluation of Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy And Breastfeeding Success in High Risk Age Group Women

Abstract

This study was performed to evaluate of breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding success in women at high risk in terms of age factor. This descriptive research was performed with the risky age group of women hospitalized in the Osmaniye State Hospital, Maternity Service between 01 September and 1 March 2020.The sample size of the study was calculated with G*Power and the minimum sample size was determined as 53 women for each group. Accordingly, this study was performed with a total of 170 women, including 53 advanced maternal age, 54 adolescent age and 63 non-risky age group. The data were collected using personal information form, Breastfeeding Selfefficacy Scale and Latch Breastfeeding Scale. Analysis of the data was performed using, One-Way Anova test, Kruskal Wallis test, Chi-Square test, Fisher Exact test and Pearson correlation analysis. It was determined that the total age average of the women was 27.41±7.87, the total score average of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale was 57.30±8.52 and the total score average of the Latch Breastfeeding Scale was 8.08±1.86.A statistically significant difference was found between the groups in terms of Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale and Latch Breastfeeding Scale (p<0.001). The mean scores of both scales were lower in women who were adolescent age of group than in other groups (p <0.001). In this research, it was identified that the total breastfeeding self-efficacy of women was sufficient and they had success a high level of breastfeeding. In addition, breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding success were lower in adolescent age group women than other groups.

Yüksek Riskli Yaş Grubu Kadınlarda Emzirme Öz-Yeterliliği ile Emzirme Başarısının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırma yaş faktörü bakımından yüksek riskli dönemdeki kadınlarda emzirme öz-yeterliliği ile emzirme başarısının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tanımlayıcı türde yapılan bu araştırma 01 Eylül 2019-01 Mart 2020 tarihlerinde Osmaniye Devlet Hastanesi Kadın Doğum Servisi’nde yatan riskli yaş grubu kadınlar ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın örneklem büyüklüğü G*Power ile hesaplanmış ve minimum örneklem büyüklüğü her grup için 53 kadın olarak belirlenmiştir. Buna göre bu araştırma, 53 ileri maternal yaş, 54 adölesan yaş ve 63 riskli olmayan yaş grubu olmak üzere toplam 170 kadın ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırma verileri kişisel bilgi formu, Emzirme Öz-yeterlilik Ölçeği ve Latch Emzirme Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde One-Way Anova testi, Kruskal Wallis testi, Ki-Kare testi, Fisher Exact test ve Pearson korelasyon analizleri kullanılmıştır. Kadınların toplam yaş ortalaması 27.41±7.87, Emzirme Öz-yeterlilik Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 57.30±8.52 ve Latch Emzirme Ölçeği puan toplam ortalaması 8.08±1.86 olarak saptanmıştır. Emzirme Öz-yeterlilik Ölçeği ile Latch Emzirme Ölçeği puan ortalamaları bakımından gruplar arasında istatistiksel anlamlı fark belirlenmiştir (p<0.001). Her iki ölçek puan ortalamaları diğer gruplara göre adölesan yaş grubu kadınlarda daha düşük saptanmıştır (p<0.001). Bu araştırmada kadınların toplam emzirme öz- yeterliliklerinin yeterli düzeyde olduğu ve yüksek düzeyde emzirme başarısına sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca adölesan yaş grubu kadınlarda diğer gruplara göre emzirme öz-yeterliliğinin ve emzirme başarısının daha düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir.
