Comparative economic efficiency of different training and planting distance peach production systems in Turkey

Abstract

It was carried out in the Fruit Growing Research Institute between 2012-2018 with the aim of revealing more efficient and profitable cultivation techniques without adversely affecting fruit quality with different training systems and high density planting methods, other than the Goble system currently applied in peach training systems. In the study, the 'Monroe' variety grafted on GF-677, 4 training systems (Goble, Central Leader, Slender Spindle and Y-Trellis) and different over-row distances were used (for Goble and Central Leader training systems: 5m, 4m, 3m, 2m, for Slender Spindle and Y-Trellis training systems: 2m, 1.5m, 1m) profitability levels of peach training systems per unit area for economic evaluation of these applications. As a result, it is concluded that the cultivation of Monroe/GF 677 peach seedlings with Slender Spindle and Y-Trellis systems with a planting distance of 1m is appropriate as cumulative gross and net profit.
