A Scale Development Study on the Attitudes and Behaviors of the Society towards Individuals Using Addictive Substances

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to develop a scale to determine the attitudes and behaviors of the society towards individuals using addictive substances
Method: The first stage sample of the study was composed of 396 people reached in eight districts determined randomly in the city center of Manisa. In the second stage of the study, test-retest stage sample was consisted of 66 undergraduate students of Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Demographic Information Form and Questionnaire on Attitudes and Behaviors toward Individuals Using Addictive Substance were used as data collection tool.
Results: The scale has a single factor structure. The scale’s Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value was .92. Normed Fit Index (NFI) and Comparative Fit Index (CFI) were .91 and .93 respectively. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was .92 which indicates strong internal consistency.
Conclusion: ''Attitude and Behaviors Scale for Individuals Using Addictive Substance'' has been evaluated as a valid and reliable scale in determining the attitudes of the society towards addiction.

Toplumun Bağımlılık Yapıcı Madde Kullanan Bireylere Yönelik Tutum ve Davranışları Üzerine Ölçek Çalışması

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, bağımlılığın oluşmasında ve tedavi edilmesinde önemli rollere sahip olan toplumun, bağımlılık yapıcı madde kullanan bireylere yönelik tutum ve davranışlarını tespit edebilmek için bir ölçek geliştirmektir.
Yöntem: Araştırmanın birinci aşama örneklemini, Manisa il merkezinde bulunan seçkisiz olarak belirlenen sekiz mahallede ulaşılan 396 kişi oluşturdu. Çalışmanın ikinci aşaması olan test tekrar test aşamasının örneklemini ise Manisa Celal Bayar Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi ve Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi’nin 66 lisans öğrencisi oluşturdu. Veri toplama aracı olarak Demografik Bilgi Formu ve Bağımlılık Yapıcı Madde Kullanan Bireylere Yönelik Tutum ve Davranışlara İlişkin Soru Formu (BYMT) uygulandı
Bulgular: Ölçek tek faktörlü bir yapıya sahip olmakla birlikte Normed Fit Index (NFI) uyum indeksi .91 ve Comparative Fit Index (CFI) uyum indeksi .93 olarak tespit edildi. Ölçeğin Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) değeri .92 ve Cronbach Alpha katsayısı .923 olup kuvvetli güvenilirliğe sahip olduğu belirlendi.
Sonuç: Bağımlılık Yapıcı Madde Kullanan Bireylere Yönelik Tutum ve Davranışlar Ölçeği madde bağımlılığına yönelik toplumun tutumlarının tespit edilmesini sağlamada geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek olarak değerlendirilmiştir.
