COMPARİSON OF MİCROLEAKAGE LEVELS OF CLASS-V HYBRİD COMPOSİTE RESİN RESTORATİONS

Year 2012, Volume: 1 Issue: 3, 110 - 116, 31.12.2012

Abstract

The aim of study was to compare the microleakage levels of two hybrid composites applied with a total-etch bonding system in Class-V restorations on permanent molars.

15 non-carious, permanent molars were used in study. Teeth were cleaned and polished with brush, rubber cup and nonfluoride pumice. They were stored in distilled water containing 0.1% thymol for disinfecting for 24hours. 30 box-shaped Class-V cavities (4x2x2mm) were prepared on the middle buccal and lingual surfaces of the teeth. After the etching of cavities with phosphoric acid gel a total-etch bonding agent was applied to the cavities and polymerized for 20s with halogen light unit.

A hybrid composite resin was placed in buccal cavities and another hybrid composite resin was applied to the lingual cavities. All samples were polymerized for 40s with halogen light unit. After finishing-polishing procedures, teeth were stored in distilled water at 370C for 24h, thermocycled (+5/+550C/x500) and immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsin at 370C for 24h. Teeth were separated buccolingually and evaluated for dye-penetration using a stereomicroscope (10x2.5magnification). Data were determined with Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon-Signed Range Tests (p<0.05).

There was not statistical difference between two hybrid composite resin groups (p>0.05). Microleakage was found higher at cervical margins than occlusal margins statistically (p<0.05).

Use of both hybrid composites with total-etch bonding system was found appropriate for Class-V restorations in permanent molars. However, the risk of leakage was found higher at cervical margins than occlusal’s.

SINIF-V HİBRİD KOMPOZİT REZİN RESTORASYONLARIN MİKROSIZINTI DÜZEYLERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Year 2012, Volume: 1 Issue: 3, 110 - 116, 31.12.2012
