Abstract

Fiziksel görünüm insanoğlunun ortak uğraşıdır. Güzel,saygın ve başkaları tarafından kabul edilebilir bir görünüşe sahip olmak kişilerin ortak isteğidir.Bu istek gençlik döneminde daha da ön plana çıksa da çoğu yetişkin yaşamı boyunca dış görünüşüne özen göstermektedir. Reklam endüstrisi ve medya, karşı cinsle başarılı ilişki kurabilmek için kişilerin ideal vücut ölçülerinde olmaları gerektiğini empoze etmekte, ideal yüz görünümüne de beyaz ve düzgün sıralanmış ön dişlerle sahip olunacağını söylemektedir. Birçok araştırmacı güzelliğin doğuştan geldiğine ve ölçülebilir olduğuna inanırken birçoğu da güzellik tanımının kültürel olarak değişkenlik gösterdiğini ve medya ve sosyalleşmenin etkisiyle geliştiğini savunmaktadır.Bu derlemenin amacı fasiyal estetik algısını maksillofasiyal cerrahi ve restoratif dişhekimliği gibi uzmanlık alanlarıyla birlikte ortodontinin perspektifinden değerlendirmektir.

FACıAL AESTHETIC AND ORTHODONTICS

Abstract

Physical appearance is the common pursuit of mankind. It is a common wish of people to be nice, respectable and acceptable by others.Eventhough this request carries major importance during youth, most of adult pays attention to their external appearance throughout life.

Advertising industry and the media, impose ideal body size and facial appearance with properly aligned white teeth in order to establish a successful relationship with the opposite sex individuals. Many researchers believe that beauty is measurable and innate while the other believe that beauty concept varies among cultures and develops by the influence of media and socializing. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the facial aesthetic perception from orthodontic perspective with expertise in areas such as oral and maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry.
