THE LAST STAGES OF ATATURK’S ILLNESS

Abstract

This study deals with the last stages of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's illness that took him to the end of his life. Atatürk’s last disease started in late 1937 and was diagnosed by Doctor Nihad Belger in January 1938. From March of the same year, he was treated by foreign doctors. Apart from Fiessinger, who came to Turkey four times to examine and treat Atatürk, Bergmann and Eppinger were other foreign doctors who were also invited to Turkey. However, since June 1938, the disease had begun to follow a serious course. In October and November after going into a coma twice, it was obvious that Ataturk's health was now caming to an inevitable end. From the emergence of this last disease to November 10, 1938, Ataturk's attitude toward his disease, his outlook on life, the way he handled state and national affairs, and other issues have been discussed

ATATÜRK’ÜN SON HASTALIĞI

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ü yaşamının sonuna götüren son hastalığının geçirmiş olduğu evreleri ele almaktadır. Atatürk’ün son hastalığı, 1937 yılı sonlarında kendini göstermiş, Ocak 1938’de de Dr. Nihad Belger tarafından teşhis konulmuştur. Aynı yılın Mart ayından itibaren yabancı doktorlardan da yararlanılması yoluna gidilmiştir. Atatürk’ü muayene ve tedavi için Türkiye’ye dört kez gelen Fiessinger’in dışında Bergmann ve Eppinger Türkiye’ye davet edilen diğer yabancı doktorlar olmuştur. Ne var ki hastalık 1938 Haziranından itibaren ciddi bir seyir izlemeye başlamıştır. Ekim ve Kasım aylarındaki iki koma durumu Atatürk’ün sağlığının artık kaçınılmaz bir sona geldiğini göstermiştir. Bu son hastalığın baş gösterip 10 Kasım 1938’e kadar Atatürk’ün hastalık karşısındaki tutumu, hayata bakışı, devlet ve millet meselelerini ele alış biçimi, üzerinde durulan diğer hususlar olmuştur
