INVESTIGATION OF EMPLOYMENT IN FRAMEWORK OF SCHUMPETERIAN CREATIVE-DESTRUCTION UNDER KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY: VAR ANALYSIS FOR TRANSPORT AND COMMUNUCATIONS SECTOR IN TURKEY

Abstract

This study aims to analyze impact of technological improvments on employment. Theoretical framework of Schumpeterian creative-destruction covers explanation of this issue. For this purpose, this study deeply gives insight into dynamics of knowledge economy and employment. Hence, communcation and transport sector which ocurs intensive technological development is chosen to analyze impact of technological shock on employment. In this case, relationship between technology and communcation and transport sector is analyzed with VAR model. Our main findings indicate that technological shocks have an negative impact over employment

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı teknolojik gelişmenin istihdam üzerinde yarattığı etkinin araştırılmasıdır. Schumpeterci yaratıcı-yıkımın teorik çerçevesi bu olgunun açıklanması ile örtüşmektedir. Bu amaçla, çalışmada bilgi ekonomisi ve istihdamın dinamiklerine ilişkin derinlemesine bilgiler verilmiştir. Teknolojik gelişmenin yoğun olarak gerçekleştiği ulaşım ve haberleşme sektörü, teknolojik şokların istihdam üzerine etkilerinin incelenmesi için seçilmiştir. Bu bağlamda; teknoloji ile bu sektördeki istihdam arasındaki ilişki VAR analizi yardımıyla elde edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda teknoloji şoklarının istihdamı negatif yönde etkilediği yani azalttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır
