Employing SHE analysis method for evaluating landscape diversity

Abstract

Identifying and classifying of landscapes are significant in terms of qualifying landscape types and determining priorities for nature conservation. For assessing landscape, various methods in the scope of landscape ecology have been introduced until today. One of them is SHE analysis that tests the relationship between S species richness , H information – the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and E evenness as measured using the Shannon-Wiener evenness index . This method aims to test the contribution of the concept of species number and equitability in diversity context. We focus on evaluating diversity of three overlapping landscape hubs that are randomly chosen located on the lower catchment of Great Meander River in the Western Anatolia. SHE analysis based on landscape character assessment was employed as an assessment tool in this study to make an integrated and innovative interpretation

Peyzaj çeşitliliğinin SHE analizi ile değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Peyzajların tanımlanması ve sınıflandırılması, peyzaj kalitesinin belirlenmesi ve koruma önceliklerinin saptanması açısından önemlidir. Sınıflandırılan ve kalitesi ortaya konan peyzajların değerlendirilmesinde ve koruma hedeflerinin oluşturulmasında temeli peyzaj ekolojisine dayanan birbirinden farklı yöntemler geliştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Aşağı Büyük Menderes Havzasında rastgele seçilen üç peyzaj kümesindeki peyzaj çeşitliliğini farklı ölçeklerde ele alarak Alfa çeşitlilik formüllerinden SHE S=Tür Zenginliği, H=Shannon-Wiener indeksi, E=eşitlik, dengelilik analizi ile değerlendirmektir. Araştırma alanını kapsayan peyzaj bütünündeki çeşitliliği seçilen örnek alan düzeyinde değerlendirmek için Alfa çeşitlilik formülleri kullanılmıştır. Uygulama sonunda, peyzajın sınıflandırılmasını sağlayan peyzaj karakter analizi yöntemi ile Alfa çeşitlilik indislerinden SHE analizinin birlikte kullanılmasının peyzaj çeşitliliğini yorumlamada etkin sonuç verdiği belirlenmiştir
