This study aims to specify the cultural enrichment which is about to disappear in this region, as well as economically important ones by identifying the ethnobotanical characteristics, utilization areas and local names of the plants in the five districts of Rize. With this aim it was carried out between the years of 2011-2012. It has been found that there are on total 113 taxa, belonging to 56 families. 43 of them are used in food sector, 78 of them are being used in treatment, and 19 of them are being used in the treatment of animals and in animal feeds. Besides, 8 of the species are being used as spices and tea production, 6 of them are being used as fuel and 26 of them are being used for different purposes. The percentage and distribution of these plant taxa are calculated under the lights of gained information. The largest five families are qualified as follows: Asteracea family with 14 taxa % 12 , Rosaceae family with 11 taxa % 10 , Lamiaceae Labiatae family with 10 taxa % 9 , Ericaceae and Fabaceae Leguminosae families with 4 taxa in each % 4 . The most commonly used herbs for medical and other purposes by local people are Camellia sinensis L. Ktze.,Laurocerasusofficinalis Roem., Sambucusebulus L., Plantagomajor L. subsp. major, Rubus sp., Urticadioica L. The preferred means of administration are decoction and infusion. It is found that DatiscacannabinaL. was used to protect bees in beekeeping and Setariaglauca L. P. Beauv. was used for food to people and birds first time. Local people mostly use plants for stomach diseases, hemorrhoid, respiratory tract diseases, urinary tract diseases, clean a wound, and skin diseases
Bu çalışma, Rize ilindeki 5 ilçede kullanılan bitkilerin etnobotanik özelliklerini, kullanım alanlarını ve yerel isimlerini tespit ederek, bu yörede halkın kaybolmaya yüz tutmuş kültür zenginliğinin yanı sıra, ekonomik öneme sahip olanlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla, 2011-2012 yılları arasında yapılmıştır. Araştırma alanında saptanan 56 familyaya ait 113 taksonun, 78’i tedavi, 43’ü gıda, 19’u hayvanlarda tedavi ve yem, 8’i baharat ve çay, 26’sının ise farklı amaçlarla kullanıldığı tespit edilmiş olup, bu bitki türlerinin familyalara göre dağılımı ve yüzdeleri hesaplanmıştır. Buna göre ilk beş familya şu şekilde sıralanmaktadır: Asteraceae familyası 14 takson % 12 , Rosaceae familyası 11 takson % 10 , Lamiaceae Labiatae familyası 10 takson % 9 , Ericaceae ve Fabaceae Leguminosae familyaları ise 4’er takson % 4 . Yöre halkının tıbbi ya da diğer amaçlarla en çok kullandıkları bitkiler Camellia sinensis L. Ktze.,Laurocerasusofficinalis Roem., Sambucusebulus L., Plantagomajor L. subsp. major, Rubus sp.,Urticadioica L.’dır. Bitkilerin en çok kullanım şekli dekoksiyon ve infüzyon şeklinde olduğu saptanmıştır. Datiscacanabinna’nın arıcılıkta arıları korumak için, Setariaglauca L. P. Beauv.’nın insan ve kuşlar için gıda amaçlı olarak kullanıldığı ilk defa bu çalışmayla ortaya çıkmıştır.Bitkilerin şifa amaçlı en çok kullanıldığı durumlar mide rahatsızlıkları, hemoroit, solunum yolu rahatsızlıkları, idrar yolu rahatsızlıkları, yara temizleme ve cilt hastalıklarıdır
