Determination of disease agents which cause Root and Foot-Rot diseases in some wheat varieties of Sakarya province

Abstract

Root and foot-rot diseases on cereals is one of the major fungal diseases causing economical yield losses in Turkey. With the aim of determining of root and foot-rot diseases, the researches were carried on 18 various cultivars of wheat and in 4 district of Sakarya province in 2007-2008 growing season. Diseased samples were collected from research areas of Sakarya Agricultural Research Institute and in the Hanlı, Esence, Esenler, Kirazca (commercial fields) town of Sakarya province. A total of 44 samples (wheat roots) were collected and these samples were carried through isolation process by using PDA and SNA (Potato Dekstrose Agar and Synthetic Nutrient Agar). Fungi species and genus that developed from the wheat roots were then identified after incubation period. Fusarium graminearum, F. culmorum, F. subglutinans, F. crookwellense, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F. dimerum, F. solani, F. equiseti, F. acuminatum, F. sporotrichoides, Rhizoctonia spp and Alternaria spp are identified from the samples collected. F. graminearum was obtained in 10 wheat cultivars and F. culmorum was obtained in 5 wheat cultivars. Both of them were found to be pathogenic on these cultivars. Moreover, other fungi were found to be pathogen on the front pathogenity tests. Pathogenicity of the isolates were determined by using soil inoculation method.

Sakarya ilinde bazı buğday çeşitlerinde kök ve kök boğazı hastalıklarına neden olan etmenlerin belirlenmesi

Abstract

Türkiye'de tahıllarda kök ve kök boğazı çürüklüğü hastalıkları, en büyük ekonomik kayıplara neden olan fungal hastalıklardır. Bu çalışma, 2007-2008 yılları arasında Sakarya'da Tarımsal Araştırma Enstitüsünde ve Kirazca İşletmesinde yetiştirilen 18 buğday çeşidinde ve Sakarya merkez ilçeye bağlı 4 bölgede de, kök ve kök boğazı hastalıklarının belirlenmesine yönelik yapılmıştır. Hastalıklı örnekler, Sakarya Tarımsal Araştırma Enstitüsünün deneme parsellerinden ve Hanlı, Esence, Esenler, Kirazca köylerinden alınmıştır. Toplam 44 buğday kök örneği toplanarak, bu örnekler PDA (Patates Dekstroz Agar) ve SNA (Synthetic Nutrient Agar) kullanılarak izolasyonları yapılmıştır. İnkubasyon süresinin sonunda buğday köklerinden gelişen funguslar cins ve tür düzeyinde belirlenmiştir. Toplanan örneklerden Fusarium graminearum, F. culmorum, F. subglutinans, F. crookwellense, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F. dimerum, F. solani, F. equiseti, F. acuminatum, F. sporotrichoides, Rhizoctonia spp. ve Alternaria spp. belirlenmiştir. Fusarium graminearum, 10 buğday çeşidinden, F. culmorum 5 buğday çeşidinden elde edilmiştir. Her iki fungus patojen bulunmuştur. Ayrıca bulunan diğer funguslar ön patojenisite testlerinde patojen bulunmuştur. İzolatların patojenisitelerinin belirlenmesinde toprak inokulasyonu yöntemi kullanılmıştır.
