Ethical Principles for Authors

Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to the İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Law Journal are expected to observe the highest ethical standards. In this regard, they must comply with the recommendations of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, and the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive of Türkiye.
By submitting a manuscript to the İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Law Journal, authors are deemed to have undertaken to adhere to these ethical principles.

Authors are required to:

1. Submit only their own original work to the journal.

2. Ensure that individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the work are listed as authors. In multi-author submissions, the corresponding author must confirm that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.

3. Not include individuals who have made no contribution to the work as authors.

4. Acknowledge non-author contributors appropriately within the manuscript.

5. Cite all sources used during the preparation of the work in accordance with ethical standards and include them in the reference list.

6. Declare any potential competing interests or common interests to the editorial board.

7. Not submit a manuscript that has been be under consideration for publication elsewhere to or previously published by another journal. 

8. Obtain and document the necessary Ethics Committee approval for studies requiring such authorization.

9. Secure permission for the use of data, analyses, or participant information used in the study and document such permissions or consents.

10. Act in compliance with the provisions of the Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works.

 

Ethical Principles for reviewers

Reviewers who accept to review a work submitted to İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Law Review should take into consideration and comply with the principles concerning reviewers set out in the recommendations of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), the recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), and the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (Yükseköğretim Kurumları Bilimsel Araştırma ve Yayın Etiği Yönergesi).

Reviewers who accept to review a work submitted to İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Law Review are deemed to have undertaken to adhere to these ethical principles.

Reviewers; 

1.     Comply with the double-blind peer review model. In this context, they avoid communicating with the authors or other reviewers..

2.     Submit their evaluations and comments concerning the work to the journal’s editorial team through the Evaluation Form. 

3.     Accept to review and evaluate only works related to their fields of their knowledge and expertise. 

4.     Papers or proposals that are sent out for review are confidential documents and should not be shared or discussed with anyone other than those involved in the peer review process. 

5.     Conduct the review process impartially and evaluate the work according to scientific criteria. Based on an impartial and scientific evaluation, they recommend acceptance for works that they consider to enrich the field.

6.     Inform the journal’s editorial team if they identify any conflict of interest or common interest.

7.     If they decline to review a work, inform the journal’s editorial team of their decision and the reason for declining. 

8.     If, during your review, they have any concerns about any ethical violation please raise your concerns with the editor. 

9.     Complete their review of the work within a reasonable period of time and submit their evaluation reports to the journal’s editorial team.

10.  Do not include non-scientific comments or evaluations in the Evaluation Report.

Ethical Principles for editors

The editor of İzmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Law Review should take into account COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) recommandations and comply with these ethical principles.

Editor;

1.     is responsible for assisting to the improvement and development of the journal’s quality in order to increase its contribution to the scientific field.

2.     Accepts for review worksthat may enrich the field and contribute to scientific debate

3.     Has full responsibility and authority to decide whether to accept or reject works submitted to the journal, with regard to the quality of the journal and its contribution to the field.

4.     Has no conflict of interest or common interest with the authors of accepted or rejected articles.

5.     Ensures that review process is completed in a reasonable period of time.

6.     Ensure that the evaluation process is conducted in accordance with ethical principles and confidentiality

7.     Protects the intellectual property rights of works submitted to the journal. In addition, prevents the works submitted to the journal from infringing the intellectual property rights relating to other works.

8.     Prevents possible misconduct and abuse of position.

9.     Acts impartially in the evaluation process of articles and in decisions concerning their acceptance after evaluation.

10.  Conduct their duties in an unbiased and objective manner.
