Abstract

Gökçeada Uğurlu-Zeytinlik is one of the settlements in the Aegean that contains the earliest evidence of agriculture and animal domestication, and its stratification dates back to 6800 BC. Unlike many settlements abandoned in Western Anatolia towards the middle of the 6th millennium BC, which is accepted as the transition from the Neolithic Period to the Chalcolithic Period, the settlement shows continuity which is observed until the beginning of the 5th millennium BC. It is understood that there was a radical change in the Early Chalcolithic Period, especially in architecture, settlement organization and pottery. Towards the beginning of the 5th millennium BC, similarities begin to be seen with the Middle Chalcolithic Period of Western Anatolia, especially in pottery. During this period, changes are observed in architecture and pottery tradition. This study focuses on the analysis of cultural development in material culture and socio-economic order in the light of the data from the Chalcolithic layers of Uğurlu-Zeytinlik and within the framework of the cultural changes in this period.

Gökçeada Uğurlu-Zeytinlik Yerleşmesinin Kalkolitik Dönem Kültür Katları Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme
