Year 2022, Volume: 20 Issue: 2, 34 - 46, 28.06.2022

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the psychological effects of drought on parents, which is one of the most dangerous natural disasters. Since the aim of the study is to reveal the psychological reflections of drought on parents, it was carried out in the basic qualitative research design, which is one of the qualitative research methods. 16 parents (mother or father) participated in the study, in which data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted in two stages on the basis of qualitative research. The interview reports obtained from the participants were subjected to content analysis in five stages and an inductive approach was adopted in this process. The data obtained from the participants were divided into 19 codes and four themes. The themes reached are “factors causing drought”, “vital reflections of drought”, psychological reflections of drought” and “vital and psychological reflections for the future.” Findings show that drought affects parents negatively, especially their children, and they feel this negativity more clearly regarding the future. The findings are discussed in the context of the literature.

Kuraklığın Ebeveynler Üzerindeki Psikolojik Yansımaları: Nitel Bir Çalışma

Year 2022, Volume: 20 Issue: 2, 34 - 46, 28.06.2022
https://doi.org/10.18026/cbayarsos.1032467
