Abstract
This study, which aims to examine the Metaverse awareness of the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, has a descriptive nature and was designed in a screening model. The research was carried out with a total of 396 participants, 52.3% (n=207) male and 47.7% (n=189) female, studying at Bayburt University in the 2021-2022 academic year. The “Metaverse Scale” developed by Süleymanoğulları et al., (2022) was used to collect the data of the study. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test and ANOVA test. As a result of the analysis, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of women in the Metaverse awareness of the participants according to the gender variable (p<0.05). According to the department variable, there was no statistically significant difference between the scale mean scores of the participants. According to the grade variable, a significant difference was found between the mean scores of the 3rd and 1st grade students in favor of the 3rd graders (p<0.05). In terms of the time spent on the internet, it was found that the Metaverse awareness levels of the participants who spend more time on the internet daily. In terms of accessing the internet, the Metaverse awareness level of the participants who accessed with mobile devices was found to be higher In conclusion, the Metaverse awareness of the students studying at the faculty of sports sciences was found at a moderate level. In order to increase this, it is thought that it would be beneficial to add the concept to the curriculum of schools, taking into account the relevance of the concept to various fields.
