Pregnancy Complaints, Quality of Life, and Attitudes Toward Sexuality
Abstract
Aim; This study was conducted to examine the effect of physical complaints experienced during pregnancy on quality of life and their relationship with pregnant women's attitudes toward sexuality. Method; The study was conducted in three family health centers selected using a simple random sampling method. It was completed with 245 pregnant women. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Scale for the Impact of Pregnancy Complaints on Quality of Life, and the Attitude Scale Toward Sexuality During Pregnancy. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests were used in the analysis. Results; The mean age of the participants was 27.41±5.20 years. Gestational week, educational level, and employment status were found to have a statistically significant effect on attitudes toward sexuality (p<0.05). As gestational week progressed, attitude scores toward sexuality decreased. Pregnancy-related complaints were found to negatively affect quality of life; however, no statistically significant relationship was identified between these complaints and attitudes toward sexuality (p>0.05). Conclusion; Pregnancy complaints negatively affect quality of life but are not directly related to attitudes toward sexuality. Attitudes toward sexuality are influenced by demographic factors, particularly educational level, employment status, and gestational week. These findings highlight the importance of addressing sexual health during pregnancy not only in relation to physical aspects but also within psychosocial and cultural frameworks
