Classroom Teachers' Self-Efficacy Towards Environmental Education

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the self-efficacy of classroom teachers towards environmental education. A single survey model was used in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 332 classroom teachers working in public primary schools in Sivas province in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, who were selected through quota sampling. The data analysis was carried out with the help of the SPSS-27 package program. As a result of the research, it was found that the environmental education self-efficacy of the classroom teachers was very high. At the same time, it was found that there was a significant difference in the level of environmental education self-efficacy of classroom teachers according to their gender, seniority and the settlement units where they work. The self-efficacy of classroom teachers for environmental education according to the gender variable is in favor of male teachers. According to the seniority variable of classroom teachers, their self-efficacy towards environmental education is in favor of classroom teachers with 21 years and above. In addition, the significant difference in environmental education self-efficacy of classroom teachers according to the residential unit variable is in favor of classroom teachers in the city center.
