Ephesos’tan Yeni Mezar Yazıtları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Ayasuluk ve St. Jean Anıtı kazılarında gün yüzüne çıkarılan toplam 14 yazıt tanıtılacaktır. İlk yazıt bir mezar stelidir. Bu stel Aurelius Aristokles ve onun kızı Aristokleia’ya aittir. Bu mezar stelinin üzerindeki kabartmadan mezar sahibi Aristokles’in boğalarla mücadele eden bir ταυροκαθάπτης olduğu düşünülmekte-dir. Diğer 13 yazıt ise ostothek üzerinde durmak-tadır. Ostotheklerin neredeyse tamamı kırılmıştır. Bunlar kazı alanının farklı alanlarında dağınık bir şekilde durmaktayken 2020 yılı kazı sezonunda bir araya getirilmiştir. Böylece tüm ostothekleri topluca görmek mümkün olmuştur. Bunlardan makale sonunda verilen 12, 13 ve 14 nolu yazıtlar daha önce fotoğrafsız bir şekilde yayımlanmıştır. Burada ise bu yazıtlı ostotheklerin fotoğrafına da yer verilmiştir. Ephesos’tan şimdiye kadar 180 kadar ostothek yayımlanmıştır. Bu çalışmayla bu gruba, yazıtlı 10 yeni ostothek daha dahil edilmiştir.

New Epitaphs from Ephesus

Abstract

In this study, 14 inscriptions discovered in the excavations at Ayasuluk and St. Jean are intro-duced. The first inscription is a funerary stele belonging to Aurelius Aristokles and his daughter Aristokleia. From the relief on the stele, one can think that the grave owner Aristokles was a ταυροκαθάπτης who fought with bulls. The remaining 13 inscriptions are carved on the funerary urns. Almost all of these are broken; they were standing in places before they are brought together in the excavation area in the 2020 campaign, which enabled the possibility of obtaining an overall view of them. Nos. 12, 13 and 14 are re-published in this article with the intention of providing their photos. To date 180 funerary urns are known from Ephesos and its territory and this contribution adds a further ten examples to this group of funerary monuments.
