Abstract

Kolophon, Antik İonia Bölgesi’nin, Arkaik Dönem’den Hellenistik Dönem içlerine dek, Batı Anadolu ve Küçük Asya tarihinde önemli yere sahip olan kentlerinden biridir. Günümüzde İzmir İli Menderes İlçesi Değirmendere Köyü sınırları içerisinde kalmaktadır Res. 1 . Kent Ege Denizi’nden 10 km kadar içeride, kuzeyinde Kalaon’un Tahtalı Çayı suladığı, güneyinde ise Hales’in Traça Çayı oluşturduğu ovalık alanları Ege Denizi’nden ayıran, Sivridağ’ın kuzeydoğuya yönelik yarı yüksek yamaçları üzerine kurulmuştur.

Domestic Houses of the Classical Period at Kolophon

Abstract

The city of Kolophon in ancient Ionia played an important role in the history
of Asia Minor from Archaic through Hellenistic times. The site is located
near the village of Değirmendere in the province of Izmir within the district
of Menderes. Located about 10 km from the sea, the town was founded on
four hills and the plain in between.
