Inula helenium subsp. helenium (Asteraceae): A New Record for the Flora of Türkiye from the Black Sea Region

Abstract

Inula helenium L. subsp. helenium is reported here as a new record for the flora of Türkiye based on specimens collected from Sinop and Kocaeli provinces. Detailed morphological descriptions, diagnostic characters, and a key to the subspecies of I. helenium in Türkiye are provided. The newly recorded subspecies is distinguished from closely related taxa, particularly I. helenium subsp. orgyalis, by its smaller capitula, dissimilar outer and middle phyllaries, and recurved middle bracts at anthesis. The confirmation of this taxon’s presence in Türkiye contributes to floristic diversity and extends the known distribution of the taxon.
