Associate Professor Mehmet Kürşat Şahin, PhD, is a faculty member in the Department of Biology, Division of Zoology, Faculty of Science, Hacettepe University. He is a herpetologist and zoologist whose research focuses on the biodiversity of Anatolia and the Caucasus, with particular emphasis on amphibians and reptiles. His work addresses ecology, natural history, morphological and physiological adaptation, and species responses to environmental variation. His research integrates interdisciplinary approaches such as phylogenomics, population genetics, thermal biology, ecological niche modelling, morphometrics, and conservation biology.
His academic interests include investigating intra- and interspecific variation across spatial and temporal scales, understanding the effects of climatic and environmental interactions on herptile species, and documenting previously undiscovered populations. Dr. Şahin conducts research from a holistic ecological and evolutionary perspective to better understand and conserve faunistic biodiversity.
Having completed my entire higher education (B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D.) in 100% English-taught programs, I have full professional and academic proficiency in the language. My scientific expertise is rooted in Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology.
My recent work has focused towards the scaling of commercial production and advanced agricultural technologies, from landscape species to medicinal and aromatic plants. Utilizing plant tissue culture and innovative in vitro systems, I focus on the biotechnological improvement and industrial standardization of botanical resources.
Dr. Tetiana Krupodorova is an accomplished mycologist and biotechnologist leader with more than 20 years of experience dedicated to advancing the science of medicinal and edible macrofungi through both fundamental and applied research. She earned a PhD degree in Mycology in 2010, received the academic title of Senior Scientist in 2014 and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences in Biotechnology in 2025. As a Leading Researcher at the Department of Plant Food Products and Biofortification, Institute of Food Biotechnology and Genomics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, she has built a distinguished profile in fungal biotechnology, cultivation, and the study of biologically active compounds derived from mushrooms. Her work reflects a strong commitment to translating mycological knowledge into meaningful applications in food science, biotechnology and health-related research. In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Krupodorova distinguised as a collaborative and internationally engaged scientist. Her publications reflect active interdisciplinary and international collaboration. Her work also reflects to the wider scientific community through her service on the Editorial Board in Journals and as reviewer in various international and national journal databases.
