Improving Fruit Quality of Guava by Stimulating the Synthesis of Photosynthesis and by Potassium Compounds.

Abstract

Our studies was carried out for two successive seasons 2023 and 2024 on common Egyptian guava variety (Mamora) trees grown at badr district, Beheira Governorate, Egypt. The trees were 10 -years-old spaced at 5×5 m and grown under a drip irrigation system in a private orchard. The trees were sprayed twice after fruit set and two weeks later in both seasons. Treatments included tap water as the control, Potassium citrate at (500 ppm), Potassium silicate at (500 ppm), Salicylic acid at (0.5 mM), Triacontanol at (5 ppm), Potassium citrate at (500 ppm) + Salicylic acid at (0.5 mM) and Potassium silicate at (500 ppm) + Salicylic acid at (0.5 mM). The non-ionic surfactant top film at 0.05% (v/v) was added to all treatments to reduce the surface tension and to increase the contact angle. The results indicated that Potassium silicate at (500 ppm) + Salicylic acid at (0.5 mM) resulted in a significant increase in physical characteristics and chemical characteristics followed by Triacontanol at (5 ppm). So the use of Triacontanol at (5 ppm) and Potassium silicate at (500 ppm) + Salicylic acid at (0.5 mM) two times is recommended.
