Evaluating the 4th Grade Social Studies Learning Outcomes of the Maarif Model in the Context of Artificial Intelligence Tools

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the learning outcomes of the 4th Grade Social Studies Curriculum, updated in 2024 within the scope of the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli, in the context of artificial intelligence-supported educational tools. Designed with a qualitative research approach, the study employs document analysis method, and the learning outcomes were examined through content analysis. Within the scope of the research, how the curriculum’s learning outcomes can be supported by AI tools, how these technologies can be integrated into students' learning processes, and the extent to which the program offers flexibility in this regard were analyzed. The findings revealed that the curriculum does not include explicit references regarding the direct use of AI; however, some process components can be effectively implemented within AI-supported learning environments. Additionally, it was concluded that teachers need practical guides and sample activities to utilize AI tools for pedagogical purposes. The study recommends that curricula should be restructured to enable the integration of artificial intelligence in line with the ongoing digital transformation in education.
