THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY FUNCTIONING, DIFFERENTIATION OF SELF, PERCEIVED STRESS, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION OF COLLEGE STUDENTS

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine whether the differentiation of self and the family functioning of college students predict their perceived stress, anxiety and depression. Family Evaluating Scale, Differentiation of Self Inventory, Perceived Stress Scale, Trait Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory were administered to 515 college students. In the study, whether the differentiation of self and the family functioning (those were independent variables) predicted the perceived stress, anxiety and depression of the students (that was the dependent variable) was determined by the use of multiple linear regression analysis. Results suggested that emotional reactivity, emotional cutoff and I position were meaningful predictors of scores obtained from the Perceived Stress Scale. Similarly emotional reactivity, emotional cutoff and I position were found to be meaningful predictors of score obtained from Beck Depression Inventory. However, in the study emotional reactivity, emotional cutoff and I position was seen to be a meaningful predictor of the scores which were obtained from Trait Anxiety Scale.

ÜNİVERSİTE ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE AİLE FONKSİYONLARI, BENLİĞİN AYRIMLAŞMASI, ALGILANAN STRES, KAYGI VE DEPRESYON ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Araştırma
üniversitede lisans eğitimine devam eden 515 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu
araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinde, benliğin ayrımlaşma düzeyi ile aile
fonksiyonlarının algılanan stres, kaygı ve depresyon düzeyini yordayıp
yordamadığını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra araştırmada üniversite
öğrencilerinde benliğin ayrımlaşma düzeyinin, cinsiyete ve öğrenim gördükleri
fakültelere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığının incelenmesi
amaçlanmıştır.Araştırmada Benliğin Ayrımlaşması Envanteri, Aile Değerlendirme
Ölçeği, Algılanan Stres Ölçeği, Beck Depresyon Envanteri ve Sürekli Kaygı
Ölçeği kullanılmıştır.Araştırmada benliğin ayrımlaşma düzeyi ile aile
fonksiyonlarının algılanan stres, kaygı ve depresyon düzeyini yordayıp
yordamadığı çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi tekniği ile belirlenmiştir.
Öğrencilerinin benliğin ayrımlaşması ölçeğinden ve aile değerlendirme ölçeğinin
genel fonksiyonlar alt boyutundan aldıkları puanların birlikte algılanan stres
puanlarını yordama düzeyleri test edildiğinde duygusal tepkisellik, duygusal
kesinti, ben pozisyonu alt boyutundan alınan puanların, algılanan stres
düzeyinin anlamlı yordayıcıları olduğu bulunmuştur. Benzer şekilde duygusal
tepkisellik, duygusal kesinti, ben pozisyonu alt boyutlarından alınan puanların
depresyon düzeyinin anlamlı yordayıcıları olduğu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca duygusal
tepkisellik, duygusal kesinti, ben pozisyonu alt boyutlarından alınan puanların
sürekli kaygı düzeyinin anlamlı yordayıcıları olduğu bulunmuştur.
