Öğretmenlerin Mülakat Kavramına Yönelik Metaforik Algıları
Abstract

Metaphorical Perceptions of Teachers About the Concept of Interview
Abstract
This study was conducted to reveal teachers’ metaphorical perceptions of interviews. It aimed to identify teachers’ thoughts and suggestions regarding interviews for teacher candidates after they have achieved the required score for appointment. Since every citizen passes through the education system and consequently every life is touched by a teacher, the manner in which teachers are trained and selected for the profession is a critical issue. Therefore, the views of teachers employed by the Ministry of National Education on the interviews administered to candidates who have achieved a certain level of success in the Turkish KPSS teacher appointment process are of great importance. The aim is to contribute to the development of new teacher appointment methods by taking teachers’ views into account. The study sample consisted of 82 teachers working in Isparta province. These teachers provide education at different school levels and exhibit diversity in terms of gender, age, seniority and marital status. This diversity provides valuable insights into how perceptions of interviews may differ according to factors such as gender, age, seniority, marital status, and the number of times a teacher has taken the appointment exam. The study was conducted using a qualitative research method with a phenomenological design. This design aims to reveal how people make sense of phenomena they encounter in various daily life situations about which they lack detailed knowledge. In this study, a structured questionnaire was used to explore teachers’ metaphorical perceptions of interviews. The questionnaire aimed to identify the metaphors that teachers used to express their perceptions of interviews. The data were analysed using content analysis. This analysis has provided insight into how teachers perceive the interview process, as well as the factors that shape these perceptions. The study's findings suggest that interviews should be conducted using fair, transparent, reliable and valid methods.
