Doçentliğe Kadar Geçen Süre: Türkiye Uygulaması

Abstract

Türkiye’deki akademik işgücü piyasası Avrupa ve ABD ile karşılaştırıldığında,
bazı benzerlikler ve farklılıklar olduğu görülmektedir. Rekabetçiliği,  yükselme mekanizmaları ve kamu ve özel
üniversite yapıları benzerlikler arasında yer almaktadır. Farklılıklar ise
kendisini esas olarak ücret yapısında ve iş güvencesi alanında göstermektedir. Bu
farklılığın en belirgin olduğu alanlardan birisi görevin sonlanması sürecidir.
Akademisyenler doçentlik kadrosuna atanıncaya kadarki unvanlarda süreli
sözleşmeli çalışan statüsündedir. Bu kadroya atandıktan sonra ise süreli
sözleşmeli dönemi sona ermekte ve işine son verilmesi nispeten katı kurallara
bağlanmaktadır ki bu akademisyenlerin doçentlik sonrası iş hayatları için iş
güvencesi anlamına gelmektedir. Bu nedenle doçentliğe geçiş süresini etkileyen
değişkenleri belirlemek önemli bir noktadır. 
Bu çalışmada doçentlik ünvanını almaya kadar geçen sürenin belirleyicileri
hazard veya sağkalım (survival) yöntemleri ile analiz edilmektedir.
