Psychological Type and the Interpretation of Sacred Text: Introducing the Sift Approach to Hermeneutical Theory

Abstract

This study explores the implications of psychological type theory for the interpretation of sacred text. The argument is advanced in two steps. Step one provides a nuanced introduction to psychological type theory in a way designed to assist readers unfamiliar with the theory to assess their own psychological type preference. Step two demonstrates how the SIFT approach to the interpretation of sacred text applies insights from psychological type theory to propose a disciplined way for community engagement with reading and discussing sacred text.

Psikolojik Tip ve Kutsal Metnin Yorumu: Hermenötik Teoriye SIFT Yaklaşımı

Abstract

Bu çalışma, kutsal metnin yorumlanması için psikolojik tip teorisinin etkilerini araştırmaktadır. Konuya dair argüman iki adımda üzerinden ele alınmıştır. Birinci adım, psikolojik tip teorisine, teoriye aşina olmayan okuyucuların kendi psikolojik tip tercihlerini değerlendirmelerine yardımcı olmak için tasarlanmış bir şekilde nüanslı bir girişi sağlamaktadır. İkinci adım, kutsal metnin yorumlanmasına yönelik SIFT yaklaşımının, kutsal metni okuma ve tartışma ile topluluk katılımı için disiplinli bir yol önermek üzere psikolojik tip teorisinden elde edilen iç görüleri nasıl uyguladığını göstermektedir.
