During the fourteen centuries of Islamic history, only a few events have been discussed regarding their religious-political effects as much as the Karbalā Event (Muḥarram 10, 61/October 10, 680). In the historical process, the Karbalā Event has caused the formation of Maqtal al- Ḥusayn genre as a specific literary genre within the literature of the Muslim peoples. One of the Arabic maqtals that have not been subjected to sufficient investigation in terms of socio-cultural history is Nūr al-ʿAyn fī Mashhad al-Ḥusayn, attributed to the Shāfiʿī-Ashʿarī scholar Abū Isḥāq al-Isfarāinī (d. 418/1027). Applying the document analysis method, the article attempts to determine the period in which the maqtal was written, based on the dates of its appearing in the literature, its manuscripts and printed copies. Using the comparative analysis method, the article makes assumptions about the religious and cultural environment in which the maqtal was written based on its peculiar aspects among the Arabic maqtals.
On dört asırlık İslam tarihinde çok az olay 10 Muharrem 61 (10 Ekim 680) yılında vukû bulmuş Kerbelâ Vak‘ası kadar dinî-siyasî etkileri açısından tartışılmıştır. Tarihi süreç içerisinde Kerbelâ olayı Müslüman halkların edebiyatında başlı başına bir tür olarak “Maktelü’l-Hüseyn”lerin oluşmasına sebep olmuştur. Sosyo-kültürel tarih açısından yeterli incelemeye tâbî tutulmamış Arapça maktellerden biri Şâfiî-Eş‘arî alimi Ebû İshâk el-İsferâyinî’ye (ö. 418/1027) ait olduğu ileri sürülen Nûru’l-‘ayn fî meşhedi’l-Hüseyn’dir. Bu makalede doküman analizi metodu kullanılarak Nûru’l-‘ayn’ın literatüre geçtiği dönem tespit edilecek, aynı zamanda mevcut yazma ve matbû nüshalarının tarihlerinden hareketle yazıldığı süreç ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır. Ardından karşılaştırmalı yöntem kullanılarak Arapça makteller içinde kendine özgü yönlerinden hareketle eserin yazıldığı dinî ve kültürel çevreyle ilgili varsayımlarda bulunulacaktır.
