Abstract

Studies indicate the importance of all psychological counselors coping with burnout in order to be effective. The importance of having personal tendencies related to the profession in order to be an effective psychological counselor is also emphasized in the literature. This study, sought to answer the question of whether female counselors' personal tendencies related to the profession predict their burnout. For this purpose, 121 female counselors were reached online, and data were collected via the Maslach Burnout Inventory, Professional Disposition Scale for Counselors (PDSC), and Personal Information Form. It was found that almost all of the correlation coefficients calculated between the three separate dimensions of burnout and the total and six sub-dimension scores of PDSCwere significant. According to the results of the regression analysis, the total score obtained from PDSC predicts all three sub-dimensions of burnout. Personal Accomplishment sub-dimension of burnout, Care for Interpersonal Relations, Positive Attitude toward Life, and Openness to New Experiences sub-dimension; The Emotional Exhaustion sub-dimension is predicted by the Self-awareness sub-dimension; and the Desensitization sub-dimension is predicted by the Being Oriented to People and Helping, Self-awareness and Openness to New Experiences dimensions. In this case, it can be said that the professional dispositions of counselors predict their burnout and therefore, providing training and support to counselors on this issue may be useful.

Kadın Psikolojik Danışmanların Mesleğe İlişkin Kişisel Eğilimleri ile Tükenmişlikleri Arasındaki İlişki
