HYBRID ANALTYIC SIMULATION APPROACH FOR PRODUCTION PLANNING PROBLEM WITHIN SUPPLY CHAIN NETWORK)
Abstract
As the industrial environment becomes more competitive, supply chain management (SCM) has
received much more attention in the literature. The supply chain (SC) can be defined as an integrated
structure involving the procurement, production, storage, distribution and control of goods. This
paper addresses the procurement and production planning problem in a supply chain system that
involves the supply of various components from a set of suppliers and production of end products
within the plant. A linear programming model is proposed to describe the problem, where multiple
components can be assembled within a planning horizon. Due to stochastic factors such as unexpected
delays, queuing and machine failure, operation time provided by mathematical model cannot reflect
dynamic characteristic of realworld systems and optimal solution of mathematical model is not
acceptable in practice. Therefore, to explore the behaviour of the real-world system, a hybrid
mathematical-simulation approach is proposed. The applicability and flexibility of the proposed model
and approach are illustrated through an example problem.
