DESIGN OF A SPECIAL PURPOSE DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENT USING VECTOR-SPACE PROJECTION METHODS

Abstract

Special-purpose diffractive optical devices are often designed by iterative methods without consideration of convergence properties, and related factors that affect performance. In this paper, we use Vector-Space Projection Methods to design a special purpose optical element that yields increased-depth-of-focus and while doing this, examine the problems associated with the convergence of the projection method under impossibly demanding constraints using both sequential and parallel projection algoritms.
