Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Policy

1. Dicle University Journal of Social Sciences Institute is an international, peer-reviewed journal that started its publication life in 2009 and has been published three times a year in February, June and October since 2021. A special issue or an additional issue can be issued according to the decision of the editorial board. Each issue includes around twenty articles. The order of acceptance for publication is determined by the application date.

2. Studies prepared in Turkish and English languages are accepted into our journal. Studies in which analytical evaluations are made in accordance with the principles of disciplines related to social sciences are evaluated. No fee is charged for the studies submitted to our journal, and the reflections of our journal that support the open access policy can be accessed from our journal's website.

3. All studies submitted to our journal should be arranged in accordance with the spelling rules announced on the page of our journal and should be sent using the template of our journal. Studies that do not comply with this rule will not be evaluated. Submitted works must not have been published anywhere before and must not have been sent for publication elsewhere. However, it is possible for the studies presented at scientific meetings such as symposiums and congresses to be evaluated, provided that they are not published and that these qualifications are stated. Although the publication of all the studies submitted to our journal depends on the positive result of the referee process, the final decision about the publication of a study in our journal is made by our editorial board.

4. During the first submission, none of the authors' names, surnames, institutions, etc. information should be included in the full-text file. The authors of the studies whose evaluation process is completed positively will add this information after that.

5. Persons whose articles are published in our journal cannot submit their other works to our journal for the following year. In our journal, only one study by one author is included in one issue. A second work is not accepted even if it is co-authored.

6. During the first application, the following documents must be uploaded to the system:

Full-Text File: The full text must be arranged according to our spelling rules and applied to our sample article template. In the first submission, the author's information will not be included in the full-text file.

Cover Page: It must contain the information of all authors and must be signed by the responsible author.

Copyright Transfer Form: Must be signed by all authors. All publication rights of all studies published in our journal belong to Dicle University and no royalties are paid to the author(s). Studies published in our journal can be used by showing the source, but cannot be used for commercial purposes published elsewhere without permission. Violation of copyrights is considered a crime in accordance with Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works.

Ethics Committee Permission: It should be uploaded for studies that require ethics committee approval. For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, the Declaration Form Concerning No Ethics Committee Permission Required should be filled and uploaded to the system.

Researchers' Contribution Rate and Conflict Declaration Form: It must be signed by all authors.

Similarity (plagiarism) report (20%): Plagiarism reports from iThenticate, Turnitin etc. plagiarism programs should be uploaded to the system. The upper limit of the similarity rate, excluding the bibliography, is 20%. For the works whose process has ended, a plagiarism report is taken again by the editorial board. The rate cannot exceed 20%.

Peer Review Process

1. The evaluation of a study submitted to our journal depends on the following conditions: compliance with the spelling rules, use of sample article templates, compliance with ethical principles, compliance with the purpose and scope of our journal, and full uploading of the required documents to the system. In addition to these, submitted works are evaluated by the editorial board in terms of content, method, subject and expression. The studies found suitable are taken into consideration. Studies for which corrections are requested are accepted again, provided that the requested corrections are made within fifteen days at the latest. In addition, plagiarism reports are examined, and those over 20% are rejected.

2. Studies that are found suitable for evaluation are first sent to at least two referees by the editorial board. From the beginning to the end of the arbitration process, it is applied as a double-sided blind arbitration system. In other words, the works are sent to the referees by the editor, so that the referees do not know the authors, and the authors do not have information about the referees. After two referees complete their evaluation, the study is sent to a third referee when necessary. In case of two rejections, the study is rejected. In the event of an acceptance or a refusal, the decision of the third arbitrator becomes decisive. For the works for which correction is requested, the requested corrections must be made within fifteen days. If one or all of the referees want to reevaluate the study after corrections, the study is submitted to the referee(s) again after corrections. The final decision is determined according to the final decision of the referees. The requested corrections are indicated on the full-text file in red, and the referee's response file is prepared separately for each referee on the referee process file by the authors and uploaded to the system.

3. For the studies evaluated within the scope of the double-blind referee system in our journal, care is taken to ensure that the authors and referees are from different institutions. In addition, attention is paid to the fact that the referees have an academic title equal to or higher than the author of the study. What is mainly expected from the referees is the evaluation of the studies in terms of content, academic originality and contribution to the field, rather than form. All referees are expected to make the necessary markings on the full-text file and upload the process file they have prepared to the system to be submitted to the author, without any information belonging to the referee.
