AD-DIN, PHILOSOPHY AND AL-MILLE

Abstract

The purposes of this article are to deal with the concepts of ”adDin”, “al-Milla” and “philosophy” as viewed by al-Fârâbî and to fi nd possible answers to the question of what religion is. What is religious interpretation in al-Fârâbî’s philosophical system? Furthermore, similarities and differences between the concepts of “addin” and “al-Milla” are thoroughly examined. The direct relationship of “ad-din” (religion) with the revelation and the possible connection of al-Milla with philosophy are discussed in detail in this article
