RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MIND AND NARRATION ACCORDING TO EBU’L-HASEN EL-EŞ’ARÎ

Abstract

Besides the political and social conditions of the era he lived, his thinking stages played an important role in shaping the thought of Eş’ari. According to Eş’arî, rational issues were not explained during the periods of the Prophet and the Companions as we do nowadays. Therefore, the science of Islamic theology did not emerge that time. The fact that the issues which theologians examine nowadays were not touched upon by the Prophet, does not mean that these issues cannot be thought and minded upon them. The Prophet talked about religious issues and explained them with evidences when it is needed and when the people regarded them as problematic. According to Eş’ari the theological issues have the Qur’anic and prophetic foundations. He tried to prove some issues such as Allah’s existence and His unity, created universe, resurrection after the death etc. by both evidences from the verses of Qur’an and rational inferences. By these expressions, we can say that Eş’ari did not oppose the use of mind. On the contrary, it is possible to state that he adopted the idea of explaining the faith by mind is an obligation in Islam

EBU’L-HASEN EL-EŞ’ARÎ’DE AKIL-NAKİL İLİŞKİSİ

Abstract

Eş’arî’nin düşünce dünyasının şekillenmesinde yaşadığı dönemin siyasî ve sosyal şartlarının yanında, onun hayatında geçirmiş olduğu düşünce evrelerinin de etkisinin önemli bir rol oynadığı gerçektir. Eş’arî’ye göre Hz. Peygamber ve sahabe dönemlerinde aklî meselelerin izahı bizim yaptığımız gibi olmamıştır. Bu yüzden de o gün kelam ilmi doğmamıştır. Kelamcıların söz konusu ettikleri konulara Hz. Peygamber tarafından değinilmemiş olması bu konularda müzakere ve akıl yürütülmeyeceği anlamına gelmez. Hz. Peygamber dinî konularda ihtiyaç duyulan ve insanların zihinlerine takılan problemler hakkında konuşmuş ve delilleriyle o meseleleri izah etmiştir. Kelamî konuların Kur’anî ve nebevî dayanaklarının bulunduğunu ifade eden Eş’arî Allah’ın varlığı ve birliği, âlemin hudusu, öldükten sonra dirilme vb. konuları gerek ayetlerden delillerle gerekse aklî istidlallerle ispatlamaya çalışır. Bu ifadelerden Eş’arî’nin aklın kullanılmasına karşı çıkmadığını, aksine imanın aklen izahının İslam’da bir zorunluluk olduğunu benimsediğini ifade etmek mümkündür
