TEACHING SIMPLE AND COMPOUND SENTENCES WITH COMPUTERS AT INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Abstract

This study aims at improving intermediate students’ sentence knowledge (simpleand compound sentences) by using computer-based activities. Moreover, this studyaims to find out the difference between students’ former sentence knowledge andtheir latter sentence knowledge after the treatment with computer-based activities.This research was conducted in the second term of 2011-2012 academic year atTOBB University of Economics and Technology, English Preparatory School,Ankara, Turkey. To conduct this study, the researcher used Pre- and Post-TestTechnique to observe the effects of computer-based activities. This study consists oftwo groups: control group and experimental group. The sample of the study included 80 preparatory students as 40 control group students and 40 experimental group students. (n=80; 41 males and 39 females). As a result of thestudy, there has been a significant difference between control group and experimental group in favor of the latter
