SPATIAL WORDS-LOCATION WORDS

Abstract

The most important factor of the acquisition order of words is children’s cognitive process. The children have no knowledge about any concept as well as theycan not acquire the meaning of the concepts. This determination is also acceptablefor the spatial words. Most of the literature on this area argues that the acquisitionof the spatial words is directly related with cognitive ability independent from thedifferent structural features of the languages. However this point of view can besupported by the studies on the language acquisition periods of the different typological languages. In this study, according to Johnston & Slobin (1979), spatialword usage of 10 Turkish children who are in the acquisition period among 3;0-4;0ages has been described. The basic finding of this study is the increasing the usageof spatial words among the children who are on the language acquisition perioddependent upon the age. Furthermore, children tend to use the spatial words withtheir lexicalized form

UZAMSAL SÖZCÜKLER-KONUM SÖZCÜKLERİ

Abstract

Sözcüklerin edinim sırasını belirleyen en önemli etken çocukların bilişselgelişimleridir. Herhangi bir kavramın içeriğine ilişkin bilgiye sahip olmayan çocuk,kavramın anlamını da edinememiştir. Bu durum uzamsal sözcükler için de geçerliolmaktadır. Alanyazını, uzamsal sözcüklerin ediniminin dillerin farklı yapısal özelliklerinden bağımsız olarak, doğrudan bilişsel yetiyle ilgili olduğunu savunmaktadır. Ancak bu bakış açısı tipolojik özellikleri farklı dillerin edinimine dönük çalışmalarla olgunlaştırılabilecektir. Bu çalışma da Türkçeyi edinmekte olan 3;0-4;0yaşları içinde olan on çocuğun uzamsal sözcükleri kullanımları üzerine bir betimleme niteliğindedir ve Johnston ve Slobin 1979’a dayandırılmaktadır. Çalışmanınen temel bulgusu, Türkçeyi edinmekte olan çocukların uzamsal sözcükleri kullanımlarında yaşa bağlı olarak artış olduğudur. Ayrıca, çocuklar uzamsal sözcükleri, adlaşmış biçimleriyle kullanmayı yeğlemektedirler. Yakınlık ve nesne özelliğiiçeriği taşıyan uzamsal sözcükleri daha çok kullandıkları, dizililik ve izdüşümselilişki içeriğindeki sözcükleri de ikincil düzlemde kullandıklarıdır
