THE INTERACTION OF TEMPORAL ADVERBIALS AND SITUATION TYPES IN NARRATIVE TEXTS
Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the temporal adverbials in Turkish in terms of to determine the effects of these adverbials on the verb functioning as the predicate of these sentence using the spoken adult data and to define a proto-type depending on the situation types that one used with the temporal adverbials. With this purpose in mind with respect to these aims, the basic conclusion to be achieved is that the most frequent adverbials to be used within the spoken narrative texts of adult language and child language data are the temporal adverbials. In addition to that, this kind of adverbials occur frequently with all situation types. This conclusion makes it appearent that there is a conditionality between the acquisition hierarchy and the competence hierarchy
