The Adventure of Political Exegesis in the Context of the Work Named the Formation Process of Political (Qur’an) Exegesis
Abstract
There is
a relationship between politics, which aims at organizing human life, and the
Qur’an; but if this relationship is not established properly, deviations occur
from divine inspiration’s (wahy) guidance. This paper will discuss the subjects
we consider related to political exegesis in the context of İsmail Çalşıkan’s
book, which can be considered analytical investigation, named Siyasal Tefsirin
Oluşum Süreci (The Formation Process of Political Exegesis) and by considering
classical and modern era exegesis literature. By using documant analysis
method, we will focus on the Maccan period where the Qur’an started to descend,
the period of the companions of the Prophet, the period of the Tabi’un (Muslim
scholars born after the comrades of the Prophet), and the ensuing periods.
