THE EFFECT OF SUSTAINABLE HEALTH TOURISM ON THE PERCEIVED IMAGE OF SERVICE PROVIDERS

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of sustainable health tourism criteria on the perceived image of service providers. The universe of the study consists of international patients of Turkish origin who received health tourism services from a private health institution with an international health tourism authorization certificate operating in Istanbul. The sample group consists of 384 health tourists who received health services selected by simple random method. The participants were reached with a quantitative research tool, a survey, and the data were obtained face to face. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS statistical analysis programs. Test-retest, internal consistency reliability and structural validity (Path) analysis were performed. As a result of the analyzes, it was concluded that the sustainability criteria of health tourism have a significant effect on the perceived image of service providers and affect them positively. If the sustainability criteria of health tourism increase by one unit, the perceived image of service providers will also increase. In addition, it was determined that the quality factor, one of the dimensions related to the institutional image of the hospital, was perceived at a high level. For health tourists, regarding the quality dimension, it is important that the healthcare personnel they receive service from are experienced in their field, that patient information is kept confidential, that up-to-date diagnosis and treatment methods are used in the hospital, and that medical equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment process of diseases is of high quality.
