Abstract

Bu çalışma; “kentsel alanlarda kullanıcı algılarına dayalı olarak dikey bahçelerin estetik rolünün belirlenmesinin etkili bir planlama için yol gösterici” olduğu hipotezine dayandırılmıştır. Bu amaçla; kullanıcı algıları temelinde anket tekniği kullanılarak, İstanbul İli Anadolu yakası yol kenarlarında yer alan dikey bahçelerin estetik etkisi belirlenmiştir. Anket tekniği çerçevesinde, on bir farklı dikey bahçe örneği; fotoğraflar üzerinden görsel etki, yapı yeşil alan oranı, canlılık, konfor değeri, tanınırlık, özgün değer, çeşitlilik, dikkat çekicilik, dinamik ve canlı etki ile çevreyle uyumlu bir bütünlük oluşturma gibi estetik parametreler açısından Likert skalası ölçeği ile değerlendirilmiştir. Anket çalışması 163 kadın ve 112 erkek olmak üzere farklı meslek gruplarına sahip toplam 275 kişiye uygulanmıştır. Anket formları aracılığıyla elde edilen verilere, SPSS istatistik programını kullanarak tanımlayıcı istatistikler (yüzdeler, standart sapma, aritmetik ortalama vb.) ile Ki-kare bağımsızlık testi, kümeleme analizi ve varyans analizi uygulanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; dikey bahçelerin kent estetiğine olumlu katkı sağladığının kullanıcılar tarafından güçlü bir şekilde algılandığı saptanmıştır.

Aesthetic Role of Vertical Gardens in Urban Areas Based on User Perceptions: A Case Study of İstanbul's Anatolian Side

Abstract

This study is based on the hypothesis that determining the aesthetic role of vertical gardens in urban areas, based on user perceptions, serves as a guide for effective planning. To this end, the aesthetic impact of vertical gardens located along the roadsides of Istanbul's Anatolian side was assessed using a survey technique grounded in user perceptions. Within the survey framework, eleven different vertical garden examples were evaluated on a Likert scale according to aesthetic parameters such as visual impact, building green area ratio, vitality, comfort value, recognition, originality, diversity, attractiveness, dynamic and lively effect, and the creation of harmonious integration with the environment. The questionnaire was administered to a total of 275 participants from various occupational groups, including 163 women and 112 men. Descriptive statistics (percentages, standard deviation, arithmetic mean, etc.), Chi-square independence test, cluster analysis, and analysis of variance were applied to the data obtained through the questionnaires using the SPSS statistical program. The study concluded that users strongly perceive vertical gardens as contributing positively to urban aesthetics.
