Regional Inflation Convergence: The Case of Turkey

Abstract

Until the early 2000s’ Turkey has experienced high inflation rates. Therefore disinflation programmes intended a single digit inflation rates and a stable economy as the number one goal. This paper investigates the convergence of the regional inflation rates for Turkey at NUTS 2 level over the period of 2004:1 to 2011:12. We used pair-wise approach to examine the regional inflation convergence. The results reveals that in the case of structural break there is a strong convergence among the regions of Turkey
