Türkiye’de Ticari Bankaların Performansını Etkileyen Faktörler

Abstract

Bu çalışma Türkiye’de 1995-2009 yılları arasında faaliyet gösteren ticari bankaların performanslarını etkileyen içsel ve dışsal faktörleri belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Yöntem olarak panel veri analizi kullanılmış, performans ölçütü olarak aktif karlılığı, net faiz marjı ve özkaynak karlılığı göz önüne alınmıştır. Sonuçlar bankacılık performansının daha çok mikro değişkenlerden etkilendiğini, ve makroekonomik faktörlerin anlamlı düzeyde bir etkisinin olmadığını göstermiştir. 2001 krizinin genel olarak negatif etkisinin olması da ekonominin genel olarak istikrarlı durumda olmasının banka performansını etkilediğini göstermektedir

The Factors Affecting The Performance of The Turkish Commercial Banks

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the macroeconomic and bank specific determinants of bank performance in Turkish banking industry between the years 1995 and 2009. Performance factors adopted are return on assets, return on equity and net interest margin and panel data regression analysis is applied. According to the results, bank performance is mostly affected by bank-specific factors and macro economic factors do not have statistically significant effects on the performance. 2001 crisis have a negative effect on the performance, pointing to the effect of stability of the economy on the performance of the banking system
