Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The Journal of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Health Sciences Institute - (JEBYUHSI) aims to publish in accordance with guidelines and fundamental practices prepared by various organizations, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and the ICMJE's Recommendations on Conducting, Reporting, Organizing, and Publishing Scientific Research in Medical Journals. By adhering to these standards, the journal aims to contribute research to the literature with high quality, transparency, honesty, and adherence to ethical standards.
Medical research involving human subjects, research on identifiable human material and data, must comply with the Helsinki Declaration, last amended in 2013, to provide guidance on obtaining informed consent from participants, protecting their confidentiality and privacy, and avoiding harm to study participants.
According to the TR Dizin Ethical Principles (2020); from 2024 onwards, applications to the Journal must include separate ethics committee decisions for clinical and experimental studies on humans and animals, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article. Accordingly, ethical committee approval is required for the following research:
• Any type of research conducted using qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, and discussion techniques,
• Research in which humans and animals (including materials/data) are used for experimental or other scientific purposes,
• Clinical research conducted on humans,
• Research conducted on animals,
• Retrospective studies in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law. In addition;
• In case reports, it must be stated in the article that an "Informed Consent Form" was obtained,
• Compliance with copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used and this compliance must be stated in the article,
• Permission must be obtained from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires, photographs, etc., and this must be stated in the article. • Information regarding ethical committee approval (committee name, date, and number) must be stated in the methods section and also before the references section of the article. • Articles must include information that participants were informed about the research and that they signed an informed consent form. Articles submitted to the Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Journal of Health Sciences Institute must comply with Research and Publication Ethics. According to the Guidelines on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics for Higher Education Institutions;
ARTICLE 4 - (1) The following actions are contrary to scientific research and publication ethics:
a) Plagiarism: Presenting the original ideas, methods, data, or works of others, in whole or in part, as one's own work without citing them in accordance with scientific rules,
b) Falsification: Using data that does not actually exist or has been falsified in scientific research,
c) Distortion: Falsifying research records or data obtained, presenting devices or materials not used in the research as if they were used, falsifying or shaping research results in line with the interests of individuals and organizations providing support,
d) Republishing: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
e) Slicing: Dividing the results of a research into parts in an inappropriate manner that disrupts the integrity of the research and publishing them multiple times, presenting these publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
f) Unfair authorship: Including individuals who have not actively contributed among the authors or excluding those who have, changing the author order without justification and in an inappropriate manner, excluding the names of those who have actively contributed from the work in subsequent editions (2) Other types of ethical violations are:
a) Failing to mention the person, institution or organization providing support and their contributions in publications resulting from research conducted with support,
b) Using theses or studies that have not yet been presented or defended and accepted as a source without the owner's permission,
c) Failing to comply with ethical rules in research conducted on humans and animals, failing to respect patient rights in publications,
d) Acting contrary to the provisions of the relevant legislation in biomedical research and other clinical research related to humans,
e) Sharing information contained in a work that one has been assigned to review with others before publication without the explicit permission of the author,
f) Using resources, spaces, facilities and equipment provided or allocated for scientific research for purposes other than intended,
g) Making unfounded, inappropriate and deliberate accusations of ethical violations,
g) In surveys and attitude research conducted within the scope of a scientific study, without obtaining the explicit consent of the participants or, if the research is to be conducted in an institution, without obtaining the permission of the institution.
