The demand for extended life and outer surface protective coatings in pipelines is steadily increasing. Several coatings are used to protect pipelines against corrosion, impact, and abrasion. In this study, the spiral welded steel pipes were coated with fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) for corrosion protection, followed by an abrasion resistant coating (ARO) to protect the pipe from impact and abrasion. Cathodic peeling, adhesion, porosity, contamination, impact resistance, XRD and SEM-EDX characterization analyses were performed on the test samples under various temperature conditions in accordance with the relevant standards and specifications, and they were found to pass successfully.
