Sahicilik Kavramının Toplumsal İşlevi Üzerine Rousseaucu Bir Değerlendirme

Öz

Bu çalışmada sahicilik kavramının ve Rousseaucu içtenlik anlayışının toplumsal işlevi sorunu ele alınacaktır. Sahicilik üzerine çalışan kimi düşünürler onun sadece kendisiyle ilgilenen, topluma ve başkalarına duyarsız modern öznenin durumunu ifade ettiğini düşünmüşlerdir. Buna karşılık kavramın toplumsal bir işlevi olduğu ve toplumsal yaşamın iyileştirilmesinde bu ilkenin kullanılabileceğini savunanlar da olmuştur. Bu problemi ele almak amacıyla öncelikle sahicilik kavramını oluşturan iki ana unsur olarak kendini bilme ve içtenlik kavramları sahicilik üzerine yazmış olan düşünürler bağlamında ortaya konacaktır. Sonrasında sahicilik kavramının oluşumunda önemli bir isim olarak karşımıza çıkan Rousseau’nun ahlak ve içtenlik hakkındaki görüşlerine değinilecektir. Rousseau’nun içtenlik anlayışı da benzer şekilde tartışmalara konu olmuş, içtenlik kavramının toplumsal bir değer olarak düşünülüp düşünülmediği tartışılmıştır. Rousseau’nun ahlak ve içtenlik hakkındaki görüşlerine genel olarak değinildikten sonra, Melzer’in Rousseaucu içtenlik anlayışı üzerine yazdığı ve genel olarak içtenlik kavramının toplumsal bir yanı olmadığını iddia ettiği makalesi incelenecektir. Sonuç bölümünde ise Rousseau’nun Yalnız Gezerin Düşleri eserine yoğunlaşılarak, Melzer’in iddialarının aksine içtenlik kavramının her zaman toplumsal ve etik bir işlevi olduğu iddia edilecektir.

A Rousseauist Evaluation of the Social Function of the Concept of Authenticity

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of social function of authenticity and the Rousseauian understanding of sincerity. Some thinkers of authenticity have thought that it expresses the state of the modern subject who is only interested in herself and insensitive to society and others. On the other hand, there are some who argue that the concept has social function and that this principle can be used to improve social life. In order to address this problem, the concepts of self-knowledge and sincerity, which are the two main elements of the concept of authenticity, will be put forward in the context of thinkers who have written on authenticity. Afterwards, Rousseau's views on morality and sincerity, which is an important name in the formation of the concept of authenticity, will be discussed. Rousseau's understanding of sincerity has also been the subject of discussions, and it has been discussed whether the concept of sincerity is considered as a social value. Melzer's article on the Rousseauian understanding of sincerity in which he claims that the concept of sincerity in general has no social aspect will be examined. In the concluding part, by concentrating on Rousseau's Reveries of the Solitary Walker, it will be revealed that contrary to Melzer's claims, the concept of sincerity, as one of the basic elements that constitute the concept of authenticity in terms of Rousseau's and similarly Rousseauist origins, always has a social and ethical function.
