Bibliometric Analysis of International Collaborations in Post-Earthquake Cultural Heritage Management: 2010-2025
Abstract
This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of international collaborations in post-earthquake cultural heritage management from 2010 to 2025. A total of 2780 documents retrieved from Web of Science and Scopus databases were analyzed using R programming language and the Bibliometrix package. The research aims to systematically evaluate scientific productivity patterns, collaboration networks, research trends, and the intellectual structure of the field. The findings reveal that the field is a rapidly developing and dynamic research area with an annual growth rate of 11.01%. A significant increase in the number of publications has been observed particularly after 2020, reflecting the impact of major global earthquakes on academic interest. The international co-authorship rate was determined as 20.58% with an average of 4.15 co-authors per document. These data confirm the interdisciplinary and internationally collaborative nature of the field. Among the most influential publication sources, "International Journal of Architectural Heritage" and "Journal of Cultural Heritage" stand out with h-indices of 28. In terms of countries, Italy leads with 811 total citations, while the United Kingdom shows the highest performance in terms of quality with 32.4 average article citations. Lourenco P was identified as the most influential researcher in the field with an h-index of 15 and 983 total citations. Thematic analysis results reveal that the field develops around two main axes: "seismic vulnerability and conservation" and "earthquake and cultural heritage." Keyword network analysis shows that the concept of "vulnerability" serves as a bridge between different disciplines with a betweenness centrality of 185.60. Study results emphasize the increasing importance of remote sensing, 3D documentation, and artificial intelligence technologies, providing important insights for future research directions. The findings provide strategic guidance for policymakers regarding strengthening collaboration mechanisms and optimizing resource allocation.
