Lisansüstü Öğrencilerinin Eş Seçimini Etkileyen ve Sınırlandıran Görüş ve İnançları

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, eş seçiminde etkili olan görüş ve olumsuz inançların anlaşılmasının yanı sıra evliliğe yönelik sınırlayıcı inançların da anlaşılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçlara yönelik olarak, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş görüşme formu kullanılarak eş seçiminde etkili olan görüş ve olumsuz inançlar belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, katılımcılarla yapılan görüşmelerde Larson tarafından belirtilen eş seçiminde 9 sınırlayıcı inancın lisansüstü öğrencilerinde ne ölçüde yaygın olduğu da incelenmiştir. Veriler 24 lisansüstü öğrencisi ile görüşülerek ve görüşmelerin içerik analizi yapılarak elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar eş seçiminde özellikler bakımından kişisel özellikler, değerler, çevre ve bağlamın etkisi, çiftler arasındaki uyum, dış görünüş ve maddiyat gibi özelliklerin ön planda olduğunu göstermiştir. Eş seçiminde etkili olan olumsuz inançlar bakımından ise romantik inançların, evliliğe dair olumsuz inançların, sosyo-ekonomik ve kültürel inançların, mükemmeliyetçiliğin, olumsuz genellemelerin etkili olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Sınırlayıcı inançlar olarak ise birlikte yaşamanın ileriki evlilikte mutluluğu artıracağı, eş seçiminde şans ve tesadüfün önemli olduğu ve mükemmel eş bulana kadar evlenmemeliyim inançları katılımcılar tarafından genel olarak belirtilmiştir.
